Audi India has been launching cars back to back in India, in a bid to regain the footfall in the showrooms. With the onset of BS6 emission norms, Audi India was left with no offerings whatsoever but within the timeframe of one year, Audi has launched multiple cars. However, Audi is lacking on the biggest pie of the segment, that is the Sports Utility Vehicle segment. The flagship Q8 is the only SUV in Audi India’s portfolio but that is going to change with the locally produced Q5. 2021 Audi Q5 production has been started and the launch will take place soon.

2021 Audi Q5 – Exterior Changes

The 2021 Audi Q5 is just a facelift to the model that was on sale before the BS6 era. However, there have been some subtle changes made on the exteriors to differentiate. Firstly, the grille is now larger, retains the single frame layout, with vertical chrome slats. The grille elements further depend on the spec of the model. In addition to that, we get tweaked LED headlights with a new DRL pattern. While the side profile remains unchanged, the taillights have been tweaked too.

2021 Audi Q5 – Interiors and Features

On the inside, the changes are again subtle and the dashboard layout falls behind when compared to the latest from Audi. Firstly, there is the larger touchscreen infotainment that retains its MMI controller. Audi has decided to stick with tactile manual controls for air-con rather than slapping on a secondary touchscreen. In addition to that, the virtual cockpit has been updated and so is the new steering wheel. Features like wireless charging, Audi connect, panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control etc will be offered with the new Q5.

2021 Audi Q5 – Engine Options

In the global markets, Audi Q5 continues to come powered with both petrol and diesel engine options. However, just like every other Audi model in India, the Q5 will boast only petrol propulsion. Doing duty on the new Q5 will be a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine mated to Quattro AWD. The engine is expected to produce 265Hp and 370 Nm of torque, mated to a twin-clutch automatic gearbox.

2021 Audi Q5 – Price and Rivals

Audi India has started the local production of the Q5, which means it will attract lower tax impositions. Audi Q5 could be priced in the region of Rs 55-60 lakh ex-showroom and it will lock its horns against the BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Range Rover Velar and Jaguar F-Pace.
