Maruti Suzuki India has finally launched the second-gen Celerio in the Indian market and it has become the most fuel-efficient car available in the market. 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been priced from Rs 4.99 lakh whereas the top-spec ZXI+ AGS has been priced at Rs 6.94 lakh.

2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Exteriors

The second-gen Celerio is based on the Heartect platform that is shared with the Wagon-R. However, the exterior design is all new with smooth flowing curves and lines. The boxy proportions of the old Celerio have been replaced with a flowing curvy design. On the front, we get to see oval-shaped halogen headlights and a small grille with chrome strip garnishing. The lower bumper gets the round fog lights and large black masking.

Coming to the side profile, the top-spec Celerio features blacked-out 15-inch alloy wheels and body-coloured lift-type door handles. In addition to that, the side indicators are mounted on the ORVMs and the tapering roofline also uplifts the stance. On the rear, we get the conventional halogen-based taillights and reflectors on the lower bumper. We can also see a lift-type tailgate handle and request sensor on the top trims.

2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Interiors

On the inside, the layout of the interiors is all new but there is loads of part sharing with the Wagon-R and S-Presso. For instance, the 7.0-inch touchscreen, steering wheel and instrument cluster has been taken over straight up from the Wagon-R. On the other hand, the console-mounted power window switches are taken over from the S-Presso. The 7.0-inch Smart Play system is new to the Celerio and it supports both Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

Talking about the features, the new Celerio comes with keyless entry, push-button start/stop, request sensor for the driver and boot lid, steering-mounted controls, digital tachometer, electrically-adjustable ORVMs and more. The AMT gear selector of the Celerio is all new and sports a new design.

2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Engine and Gearbox

The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio gets an all-new engine that will eventually be plonked in other Maruti Suzuki cars as well. Apparently, the engine is the same unit that we saw with the Baleno RS, save for turbocharging. It features the Dualjet technology along with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and that makes up for the best fuel efficiency figures. The VXI AGS trim of the Celerio comes with the highest claimed fuel efficiency of 26.68 km/l – making it the most fuel-efficient car in India.

Talking about the power figures, the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder K10C engine puts out 67Hp and 89 Nm of torque. If we retrospect, that is 1Hp and 1 Nm less than the predecessor engine. Nonetheless, the newly added tech like Dueljet and VVT have not only increased the efficiency but also brought down the CO2 emission levels. The engine can be had with both 5-speed manual or AMT options whereas the latter is available in all variants, except for the base LXI.

2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Variants, Prices and Rivals

2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh. Talking about the variants, the Celerio is offered in LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. All the variants can be specced with the 5-speed AMT, save for the base LXI. The AMT variants of the Celerio are priced 50,000 more than the corresponding manual variants.
