After launching the made-in-India Volkswagen Taigun, Volkswagen India is all set to launch the Tiguan facelift in the Indian market. The German marque launched the Tiguan AllSpace last year but that was offered as a CBU, however, the Tiguan facelift will be launched via the CKD route, thus attracting lower tax rates. The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to get launched in November 2021.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan – Exteriors

Volkswagen Tiguan comes with a reworked exterior design that is inspired by the new Golf hatch. Talking of the changes, it gets a redesigned grille with slimmer LED headlights. The side profile remains more or less the same whereas the rear profile gets the new VW logo and Tiguan insignia spread across the boot. The 4-Motion badge is for the all-wheel-drive system of the Tiguan that will also be offered in the Indian market.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan – Interiors

On the inside, there are subtle changes with modern tech sprinkled everywhere. All the tactile buttons have been replaced with touchscreen and capacitive sliders. The central touchscreen supports both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. VW Tiguan gets the new steering with capacitive controls and the Air-con controls are all touch-based too. Talking about features, the Tiguan comes with a large panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, paddle shifters, electric driver’s seat and a lot more.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan – Engine and Performance

The earlier Tiguan was launched with a sole 2.0-litre TDI engine mated to a 7-speed DSG and 4-Motion AWD. Just like every other new VW or Skoda offering, the new Tiguan will come powered with a petrol engine only. That in question is the 2.0-litre TSI that produces 190Hp and 320 Nm of torque. The same engine is seen with the Tiguan AllSpace and Skoda Octavia as well. The engine will come mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and 4-Motion AWD will be on offer too.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan – Prices and Rivals

As we stated earlier, the new Tiguan will be sold via the CBU route. That means it will attract far lesser tax and import duties when compared to the CBU Tiguan AllSpace. Volkswagen Tiguan could be priced from Rs 29.99 lakh ex-showroom and it will take on the likes of the Jeep Compass and Citroen C5 Aircross. The launch is slated for November 2021 and bookings will be open soon.
