Kia Motor India is all set to unveil the Carens in the Indian market on December 16th. To build up the excitement, the Korean carmaker has released the first design sketches of the Carens that reveal the sharp lines and creases of the upcoming MPV, on in Kia’s speak, RV. 2022 Kia Carens sketches give us insight into the overall design and a sneak peek at the interiors.
2022 Kia Carens Sketches
As per Kia India, the Carens embodies the ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy and showcases an amalgamation of an SUV and MPV. The front of the Kia Carens gets unique LED DRLs whereas the main LED headlights sit below. The Tiger Nose grille on the Carens is not that prominent when compared to the SUV siblings. The lower bumper is finished in silver accent, however, now fog lights are visible in the sketches.
Coming to the side profile, the Carens gets sharp lines over the wheel arches. In addition to that, it gets side cladding to save from the daily abuse and dual-tone alloy wheels that could go up to 17-inches. On to the rear, the Carens gets wraparound LED taillights with a connecting LED lightbar in the middle. The taillights cluster is somewhere similar to that of the Kia Sonet.
On the inside, Kia has faintly shown half of the design and not much can be picked out of the sketches. However, thanks to the spy shots in place, we have a better idea of the features that will be on offer. Kia Carens will come with a large touchscreen with UVO Connect, automatic climate control, digital instrument cluster, flat-bottom steering, cruise control, electric sunroof and more. A domb-like dashboard is visible in the sketch that could the highlighting design factor of the new MPV from Kia.
Talking of the powertrain options, Kia will offer the same set of engines we get with the Seltos. It hints that the Carens could come with the 1.5L MPI petrol and 1.5L diesel engines with respective manual and automatic gearbox options. The super-efficient and refined engines will give tough competition to the rivals. Given the Ertiga and XL6 are only available with a naturally-aspirated petrol engine whereas the Marazzo is solely offered with a diesel engine.
Coming to the reveal timeline, as we stated earlier, the 2022 Kia Carens will make its global debut on December 16th whereas the launch is slated for early 2022. Kia Carens will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo but Kia will try to position as a standalone product.
