Kia has finally taken the wraps off its fourth offering in the Indian market and it’s called the Kia Carens. While the name may gel with India’s taste, it’s rather easy to pronounce, Car-ens! The name translates to the rebirth of the car. As the 2022 Kia Carens has been unveiled, here is everything you need to know about it.
2022 Kia Carens – Exteriors
The Carens is pitted against the Hyundai Alcazar. However, Kia doesn’t call it an SUV, but an RV that stands for Recreational Vehicle. Easy put, it’s an amalgamation of an MPV and SUV with some impressive styling cues. On the front, it gets LED DRLs that represent the constellation of stars. It is also the first Kia in India to offer split LED headlights as the main headlights sit below the DRLs. On the side, we get impressive 16-inch alloy wheels and body cladding. The stance of the rear is uplifted by connected LED taillights and a shark fin antenna.
2022 Kia Carens – Interiors
Kia Carens is longer than the Alcazar and boasts more interior space. While we will have a better look on the inside in the future, here are all the features the Carens has on offer: electric sunroof, roof-mounted AC vents, 10.25-inch infotainment system, smart air purifier, ventilated seats, drive modes, digital instrument cluster and a lot more. Kia will offer the Carens with both 6- and 7-seater options and the second-row tumble will be operated electrically. The upholstery of the Carens is offered in beige and indigo blue, which uplifts the overall ambience.
2022 Kia Carens – Engine Options
On the powertrain’s front, the Carens will come powered with three engine options – 1.5-litre nat-asp petrol, 1.4-litre T-GDi petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both the diesel and the T-GDi petrol engines will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. On the other hand, the Alcazar misses out on turbo power and only gets a sole 2.0-litre petrol unit, alongside the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Kia will soon reveal the mileage figures of the Carens.
2022 Kia Carens – Rivals, Launch Date and Expected Price
Kia Carens will take on the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Toyota Innova Crysta and MG Hector Plus. The launch date is expected around the first quarter of 2022 and Kia will price the Carens in the range of Rs 12-18 Lakh ex-showroom. Kia is wanting to tap on the family buyers with the Carens by offering a perfect blend of performance, styling, technology and value for money.
