Skoda India has been launching products back to back and the new Slavia is going to join the portfolio. Skoda India aims to grasp a 5 per cent market share by 2025 and the Slavia is going to play a major role in achieving that. Skoda Slavia offers the understated design language of the Czech carmaker in a package that is bigger than the first-gen Octavia. 2022 Skoda Slavia has been unveiled today and the pre-bookings are now open.
2022 Skoda Slavia unveiled – Exteriors
Skoda Slavia features sharp lines and an understated design that is inspired by bigger sedans like the Octavia and Superb. Talking about the dimensions first, the Slavia measures 4,541mm in length, 1,752mm in width, 1,487mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,651mm. Skoda Slavia will be the widest sedan in its segment with great interior space, thanks to the long wheelbase.
In terms of design, the front gets the large Skoda grille with long vertical slats, that is flanked by Bi-xenon LED headlights. The lower bumper gets fog lights and subtle chrome garnishing. On the side, a strong character line lends it an imposing stance and it rides on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. On the rear, you will see a lot of resemblances with the Octavia, thanks to the inverted LED taillights and sloping notchback boot lid.

On the inside, the Slavia feels like a step up from the Rapid which it is going to replace. The new design layout of the dashboard is inspired by new Skoda offerings. The centre of the dash hosts the 10-inch infotainment that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play along with Skoda apps.
Talking about other features, the Slavia comes with wireless charging, ventilated seats, touch-based air-con controls, an electric sunroof, six airbags and more. Skoda has offered 3 point seatbelts for all the passengers and ESP is offered as standard across the range. Thanks to the sheer width and length of the Slavia, the interior space is going to be in line with the rivals.

Coming to the powertrain options, the Slavia will carry over the same powertrain options seen on the Kushaq. The volume-seller will be the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine with 115Hp and 175 Nm of torque. It will come mated with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. For the enthusiasts out there, Skoda Slavia will also offer the 1.5-litre TSI with 150Hp and 250 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG. In addition to that, the 1.5L TSI also offers ACT technology that boosts fuel economy at cruising speeds.

Skoda Slavia will hit the Indian roads in the Q1 of 2022 whereas the bookings are already open. Skoda is expecting some great figures with pre-bookings and the Slavia is all set to take on the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Skoda could price the new Slavia in the sweet spot of 10 – 15 lakh ex-showroom.
