Suzuki Global has finally taken the wraps off the 2022 S-Cross and it sports an all-new design along with new powertrain options. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a value-for-money crossover in the Indian market and will be updated with the MY2022 model soon.
2022 Suzuki S-Cross – Exteriors
The all-new Suzuki S-Cross gets a complete design makeover with a bolder design. The front profile is now high-set when compared to the current S-Cross. It now sports a taller bonnet and large grille flanked by LED headlights. The headlights are connected with a prominent chrome stip whereas the mesh pattern on the grille is unique. The side profile is more or less the same as that of the current S-Cross but the flared wheel arches and body cladding give it a muscular look. On the back, the S-Cross gets large transparent LED taillights that are connected with a blacked-out applique. The rear design is somewhat inspired by the Volkswagen Taigun.
2022 Suzuki S-Cross – Interiors
The new S-Cross gets updated interiors with better quality materials and new features. Taking the centre stage is the new 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment that supports both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The dashboard is now sculpted with additional layers. The AC vents are now placed below the touchscreen and give us a hint of what the interiors of the new Brezza and Baleno would look like.
In terms of features, the new S-Cross gets dual-zone climate control, 360-degree parking camera, auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, ventilated front seats and more. In terms of practicality and space, the S-Cross is similar to the current model but the boot space is more practical, at 430 litres.
2022 Suzuki S-Cross – Engine and Performance
At its debut, Suzuki announced the new S-Cross with the 1.4-litre direct injection Boosterjet petrol engine. This turbocharged unit puts out 127bhp and 235 Nm. The power output also includes 13.4bhp and 50 Nm of torque from the electric motor. The new S-Cross comes with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that boosts performance and economy. Furthermore, Suzuki will also launch fully-hybrid variants of the S-Cross in the coming future. In the Indian market, the S-Cross comes powered with a sole 1.5-litre nat-asp petrol engine that’s mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.
2022 Suzuki S-Cross – India Launch and Rivals
2022 Suzuki S-Cross has been unveiled for the European markets first but it will make its way to the Indian market soon. The current-gen S-Cross is dated by segment standards and misses out on a lot of features. The new S-Cross will be a perfect fit for the Indian market, especially when we have big rivals like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor and Nissan Kicks. We expect Maruti Suzuki India to launch the S-Cross in the second half of 2022 along with the Brezza facelift and Baleno facelift.
