Toyota Hilux shares its platform and engine options with the Fortuner. It will come powered with a 2.4-litre diesel and 2.8-litre diesel engine options, with corresponding automatic gearbox options. However, four-wheel drive may remain exclusive to the 2.8-litre models only. Sharing details of the design, the new Hilux features a wide grille with chrome surrounds, thick body cladding, side steps, multi-spoke alloy wheels, LED headlights and LED taillights.

On the inside, the Hilux comes with a redesigned dashboard with new features and equipment. The layered dashboard of the Hilux is a bit different when compared to that of the Fortuner.
