Kia Carens MPV Global Unveil on December 16th

Kia India has been performing great in the Indian market with the Seltos, Carnival and Sonet. While they have two SUVs in the lineup, the fourth offering is going to be a mid-size MPV that will sit below the Carnival. The upcoming mid-size MPV that is supposed to be called Carens will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. Kia Carens MPV global unveil is slated for December 16th.

Kia Carens MPV Global Unveil – All Details

Kia Carens is going to be the fourth product in the Kia India lineup and it will be based on the Seltos’ platform. In addition to that, the Carens will also share its powertrains with the Seltos. Talking about the design, although nothing much is known, the Carens will take inspiration from both the Sonet and the new Sportage. On the front, we will get inverted LED DRLs and headlights with the bold tiger-nose grille in the middle.

On the side, the Carens will have a plain design along with a large glasshouse area, thanks to the longer rear doors. In addition to that, Kia could also offer a panoramic sunroof with the Carens. On the rear, it will get LED taillights which look somewhat similar to that of the new Sportage. In a nutshell, Kia Carens will offer an impressive and bold design to take on the competition.

Kia India could offer the Carens MPV in 6-, 7- and even 8-seater options with a host of features. That can include a 10.25-inch infotainment system with UVO connect, wireless charging, cruise control, six airbags, ESP, ventilated seats, AC vents for second and third-row seats, 360-degree parking camera and more. More details will be revealed on the global unveil itself.

Coming to the engine options, as we stated earlier, Kia will offer the same set of engines we get with the Seltos. It hints that the Carens could come with the 1.5L MPI petrol and 1.5L diesel engines with respective manual and automatic gearbox options. The super-efficient and refined engines will give tough competition to the rivals. Given the Ertiga and XL6 are only available with a naturally-aspirated petrol engine whereas the Marazzo is solely offered with a diesel engine.

Kia Carens MPV global unveil is all set to take place on December 16th whereas the India launch could happen in the Q1 of 2022. Kia Carens will be priced competitively and will be targeted to the buyers of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and even Toyota Innova Crysta. We expect Kia to price the Carens MPV in the region of Rs 10 – 15 lakh ex-showroom.
