Tata Punch

Tata Punch stirred a lot of buzz when it was launched last year. It offered everything one can ask for but at a rather expensive price. With the 2022 model, Tata Motors has revised the pricing of the Punch. The top-end Creative variant is now cheaper by Rs 10,000, applicable for both MT and AMT models. However, all the other variants have seen a hike of Rs 10,000 – 16,000.

Tata Punch borrows its design cues with the Harrier and the Safari. Its high bonnet and split headlamps lend it an SUV appeal. On the back, the Punch gets large cladding and smaller LED taillights, to make it look bigger than what it actually is. On the outside, the Punch offers projector headlamps, LED DRLs, circular fog lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, side body cladding, skid plates and LED taillights.

On the inside, the Punch borrows its dashboard layout and features from the Altroz. The dashboard is offered in two layers with multiple unique textures. The 7-inch freestanding infotainment sits on the top of the dashboard and gets both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Talking about its features, the Punch offers auto AC, cruise control, semi-digital instrument cluster, push engine start/stop with keyless entry, auto-folding ORVMs, rear armrest, cooled glove box, steering mounted controls and more.

On the engine front, the Punch comes with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. It produces 86PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The engine can be had with both 5-speed manual and AMT transmission options. Tata Motors could also soon introduce a CNG powertrain for the Punch. Rumours also suggest the possibility of a turbo petrol powertrain in the near future.

With the price revision, the top-end Punch Creative is more value for money than before. Tata Motors went a little too ambitious with the pricing of the Punch. They may have now understood that and hence, made some alterations to the pricing.
