The last two years have been a rollercoaster for the Indian automotive market. While the market is still reviving, most brands are ready with their new products near the festive season. From Maruti Suzuki to Tata Motors, we are going to see a slew of news cars in the sub 10 lakh price bracket. Here are all the upcoming cars in India under 10 lakhs.
Upcoming Cars in India Under 10 Lakhs
Some prime launches of this year have been delayed and some will be launched in 2022. Just to give you a clear idea, we have segregated the upcoming cars with respect to their expected prices. Let’s start with the sub 5 lakh category first.
Upcoming Cars Under 5 Lakhs
Till now, only the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is making it to the 5 lakh price bracket. It is here to realise that the preferences of an average buyer have changed.
2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio
Maruti Suzuki had delayed the launch of the new Celerio, owing to the second wave of COVID-19. The launch of the new Celerio is expected to take place in October this year. It will be underpinned by the Heartect platform and get an all-new design, with a tall boy stance. Along with the exterior changes, Maruti Suzuki will also improve the interior layout and it’s expected to be similar to that of the S-Presso.
Talking about the engine options, the new Celerio will come powered with a sole 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine that also powers the S-Presso. It will produce 68Hp of power and 91 Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Maruti will also launch the CNG variant of the Celerio after the official launch. We expect Maruti to price the Celerio in the sub 5 lakh region whereas the top variants could touch the 6 lakh mark ex-showroom.
Upcoming Cars Under 6 Lakhs
Both the cars under the 6 lakh category fall in the SUV-four metre compact SUV segment.
Tata Punch
Tata Motors is all set to launch the Punch Micro-SUV on October 4th. It will sit below the Nexon in terms of positioning and Tata is expected to price it under 6 lakhs whereas the top variants will fetch up to 8 lakh ex-showroom. In terms of design, the Punch is an amalgamation of the Harrier and the Nexon with split LED headlights and a large signature grille. On the inside, the layout is very similar to that of the Altroz, boasting a 7-inch touchscreen and semi-digital instrument cluster.
Talking about the engine options, it will come powered with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is shared with the Tiago and the Altroz. However, Tata could also offer the Punch with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine seen with the Altroz i-Turbo. Tata Punch will also offer features like auto headlights and wipers, cruise control, Android Auto and Apple Car Play, and more.
Citroen C3
Citroen unveiled the C3 last week whereas the launch is slated for the first half of 2022. Citroen C3 is called a hatchback with a twist. It offers a high driving position and ground clearance of 180mm. Along with that, despite being under sub-four-metre, it offers the longest wheelbase in its segment. On the inside, we get some funky orange touches and large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment with both Android Auto and Apple Car Play.
Citroen is yet to announce the engine options for the C3. However, rumours suggest it will get a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is expected to produce 130Hp. Citroen will also offer a dual-clutch automatic gearbox with the C3. It is expected to be priced under six lakhs for the base trim whereas it will undercut the top trims of the Tata Punch.
Upcoming Cars Under 8 Lakhs
There is only one upcoming car in the sub 8 lakh price bracket, however, more could be announced later.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift
Maruti Suzuki has been testing the Baleno facelift and it has been spied recently. While the powertrains and other mechanicals will be the same as before, it will get new features and refreshed design. On the outside, we expect new LED headlights and taillights along with a new set of alloy wheels. On the inside, it will get bigger touchscreen infotainment, new steering with cruise control along with an updated layout.
On the powertrains front, it will continue to get the 90Hp 1.2-litre Dual-jet petrol engine that comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT. Maruti Suzuki could revise the prices of the new Baleno but the base variant will be priced under 7 lakh whereas the top variants could cross the 9 lakh mark ex-showroom.

Here are the two upcoming SUVs that are likely to be priced below 10 lakh ex-showroom.
Force Gurkha
Force Motors first unveiled the new-gen Gurkha at the 2020 Auto Expo. Well, the wait will soon be over with the launch of the new Gurkha at the end of September 2021. The new Gurkha is underpinned by a new chassis and Mercedes sourced diesel engine. It offers lockable front and rear differentials along with coil springs at all four corners.
The 2.6-litre diesel engine of the Gurkha puts out 91Hp and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Force Gurkha will be priced under 10 lakh ex-showroom and it will undercut the Mahindra Thar by a big margin. Force is going to launch the Gurkha on September 27th.
MG Astor
MG is prepping up to launch the Astor in the Indian market in October 2021. It will come packed with features to the brim and boast tech like Level-2 ADAS and machine learning. In terms of looks, the Astor gets redesigned front fascia with a chrome grille and slimmer LED headlights. Other changes include 17-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights.
In terms of engine options, the Astor will come powered with two petrol engines – 110Hp 1.5-litre petrol and 140Hp 1.3-litre T-GDI engine. Both the engines will be offered with manual along with 8-step CVT and 6-speed AT respectively. MG Astor range will kick start from under 10 lakhs whereas the top model will be priced in the region of 17 lakh ex-showroom.
Here were all the Upcoming cars in India under 10 lakhs that will be launched in the Indian market soon. Some cars are yet to get an exact launch timeline but in a nutshell, we have new cars coming in every respective segment.
