Tata Motors has been launching new cars in the market back to back. Just recently, we saw the launch of the all-new Ziptron-powered Tigor EV and now, Tata is prepping up to launch the Punch. Ahead of the Tata Punch, the brand has multiple products lined up that will go on sale in the coming years. Here we tell you about the upcoming cars of Tata Motors that will be launched in the Indian market soon.

Upcoming cars of Tata Motors

Tata Motors has a lot of different products in the pipeline that also includes electric vehicles. While offerings like the Sierra concept are far away from the launch timeline, we tell you about the upcoming cars from Tata Motors that are about to get launched in the coming years.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch will be positioned as the smallest SUV in Tata Motors’ portfolio. Tata is all set to launch the Punch on October 4th and bookings will be open on the same day itself. In terms of design, the Punch is an amalgamation of the Harrier and the Nexon with split LED headlights and a large signature grille. On the inside, the layout is very similar to that of the Altroz, boasting a 7-inch touchscreen and semi-digital instrument cluster.

In terms of engine options, the base engine is supposed to be the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that will produce 86Hp and 113 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. Tata could also offer a 110Hp 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine found with the Altroz i-Turbo. Tata Punch could be priced from Rs 5.5 lakh whereas the top model will be priced in the region of 8 lakh ex-showroom.

Tata Altroz Automatic

Tata Altroz is a phenomenal premium hatchback but an automatic gearbox option is sorely missed. Tata Motors is said to be working on a dual-clutch automatic gearbox that could be mated with both the Altroz and the Nexon. While the engine will be the same 1.2-litre turbo with 110Hp and 140 Nm, the new gearbox will offer the needed convenience.

Keeping the hot Indian weather conditions in mind, it could be a wet-type dual-clutch gearbox that could be launched next year with the Altroz i-Turbo. The automatic gearbox will help the Altroz to compete against the i20 turbo DCT and Polo GT TSI. Expect Tata Motors to price the auto around at a 1 lakh premium over the manual counterparts.

Tata Nexon CNG

Tata Motors has been testing the CNG model of the Nexon for a long time now. The drastic increase in fuel prices has been a concern of late, people will be able to save a lot more with the CNG powertrain. It will be powered with the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated with a factory-fitted CNG kit. It would be interesting to see how Tata tunes the CNG kit with a turbocharged petrol engine. CNG kits are generally not compliant with turbocharged engines and people often face issues like loss of power and poor long term reliability.

Tata Harrier Petrol

Tata Motors has outsourced the 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine from FCA that has been doing duty on the Harrier and the Safari. However, Tata is yet to engineer a large capacity petrol engine for its big SUVs. Tata Harrier and Safari will get the four-cylinder derivative of the Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbocharged motor. It could feature direct injection and produce north of 150Hp. Thanks to the stringent emission norms and doubtful longevity of DPF systems, people are shifting towards petrol propulsion. Tata could launch the Harrier petrol and Safari Petrol in the coming years and gain the untouched market share.

Tata Altroz EV

After the success of the Nexon EV and Tigor EV, the Altroz could be the next offering to get the electric powertrain. The Altroz could also share the powertrain with the Nexon EV, however, it could be detuned in favour of efficiency. The Nexon EV is stupid fast and such power is not needed in a hatchback. Tata will put focus to increase the real world range that has been a issue with the Nexon EV. We expect the Altroz EV to offer a claimed range of over 350 km on a single charge. Tata Motors could launch the Altroz EV by 2022 end.

So here were all the upcoming cars by Tata Motors in the Indian market. While most of them are confirmed to get launched, the expected timeline could vary. With the fresh line of products, Tata Motors will capture a bigger market share and impress the customer base with future mobility.
