Upcoming Jeep Cars in India - Launch in the Next Two Years

Jeep India only has two offerings in the Indian market, the Compass and the Wrangler. While both the cars are priced at a premium in their respective segments, only the Jeep Compass is accessible to average buyers. Jeep is going to change that with a new line of SUVs that are more accessible than the flagship Wrangler. Here is the list of the upcoming Jeep cars in India.

Upcoming Jeep Cars in India

All the upcoming cars have been confirmed by Jeep India but the tentative timelines could vary. Nonetheless, all the cars will be launched in the next two years.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk

Jeep Compass Trailhawk

Jeep had launched the Trailhawk with the pre-facelifted model of the Compass. It offered unmatchable offroad performance in a smaller footprint. Jeep is now prepping up to launch the new Compass Trailhawk that will be based on the facelift. It will offer tweaked exteriors along with better tech on the inside.

The new Compass Trailhawk is expected to remain unchanged mechanically. It will be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that will produce 172Hp and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic along with a low range gearbox. The Trailhawk also offers better water fording capabilities, improved approach, departure and break-over angles; and terrain select modes. Jeep is expected to launch the new Compass early next year.

Jeep Meridian

Jeep Meridian

Jeep Meridian is the seven-seat incarnation of the Compass. Jeep has been testing the Meridian on the Indian roads for a long time now and it is going to be launched in 2022. Jeep Meridian has already been released in the global markets with the name, Commander. On the outside, the looks are tweaked to differentiate it from the Compass. We get a wider grille mated to a sleeker set of headlights and high mounted LED taillights. On the inside, the layout will be similar to the new Compass with the use of high-quality materials.

On the powertrain front, it is expected to come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine with mild hybrid assistance. The power output will rise to 200Hp when compared to 170Hp with the Compass. The engine will come mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, whereas a 6-speed manual could also be a part of the package. Jeep Meridian will take on the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace and Toyota Fortuner.

Jeep Sub-compact SUV

Jeep India will also step into the highly competitive subcompact SUV segment. While the SUV hasn’t gone into the testing phase, it will be underpinned by the CMP platform of the Citroen C3. However, Jeep will give the compact-SUV its own treatment with a 7-slat grille and squared-off body cladding. There is not much info regarding the engine options on offer, Jeep could plonk in the 1.2L turbocharged unit, found with the Citroen C3. India launch of the Jeep Sub-compact SUV is slated for 2023 and it will take on the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and other rivals.

Here were all the upcoming Jeep cars in India that are slated to get launched in the coming years. Jeep will be able to capture a wider market with the new products. While both the Trailhawk and the Meridian will be positioned at a premium end, it’s the sub-compact SUV that will get the sales rolling.
