The Mobilio has a front end that resembles the Amaze / Brio sedan whereas the rear has compact MPV-like dimensions. There is a large chrome grille at the front with sculpted bumpers and an upswept side profile. It is slightly smaller than the Honda City which will prove useful in tight parking spots.

It has smart, sleek styling overall with a hint of sportiness. The roof is tall which provides an airy atmosphere in the cabin. At 4.4 metres long, it is longer than a close rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. To compensate for the stretched platform, Honda has stiffened the chassis and used harder springs to improve ride and handling dynamics.

Interiors are pleasant looking and have a neutral beige theme which manages to gather dust very easily. With the second and third-row seats folded up, the Mobilio has ample space and can swallow up even the biggest pieces of luggage. There is space for 5 adults to sit comfortably, but more than 5 passengers will be a tight squeeze for the Mobilio.

Plenty of storage spaces and cubby holes around the cabin make it practical. The dashboard includes an audio/video and navigation interface which is a nice, modern touch. There are some quality issues with the interior build as you will discover squeaks and rattles from the dashboard after some time.

Engine Performance

The Honda Mobilio has two engines on offer, a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine (98 bhp @ 3,600 rpm) and a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine (117 bhp @ 6,600 rpm). Both engine options get a manual transmission.

The diesel engine gets a bit noisy when revved hard, but is quite powerful and fun to drive. It is also efficient and averages between 17 kmpl and 19 kmpl which is cost-effective in the long term. The gearbox is engaging to use and caters to slick-shifting to keep the power band active all the time. Both the petrol and diesel engines show no lag in acceleration which makes them easy to use in city traffic.
