2022 Volkswagen T-Roc Facelift Revealed – India Bound?

2022 Volkswagen T-Roc Facelift

Volkswagen T-Roc has been updated with a mid-life facelift in the global markets. It comes with loads of substantial changes, both on the outside and inside. In addition to that, Volkswagen has also kept the T-Roc Cabriolet alive with the new facelift. The changes include a reworked front fascia along with tweaked interiors. The T-Roc is also on sale in the Indian market as a CBU and Volkswagen India could consider the new T-Roc facelift for our market.

Volkswagen T-Roc is a quirky looking crossover and the new changes give it a sportier appeal. On the front, we get a redesigned grille that is only larger but also gets a new mesh pattern. The headlights have been upgraded with integrated LED DRLs and an LED strip runs across the front grille. The earlier oval-shaped DRLs have been replaced with tri-LED fog lights. On the side, we get to see subtle black cladding for the wheel arches whereas the silhouette is the same as before.

Volkswagen has also offered a new design for the alloy wheels that start from 17-inches and could be specced to 19-inches with the T-Roc R. On the back, the taillights have been redesigned too with new lighting elements. In a nutshell, the T-Roc facelift looks fresh and bold with enough changes to differentiate over the pre-facelifted model.

Jumping on the inside, it’s a breath of fresh air. Gone are the bland and boring interiors and incomes the new layout with updated features. The touchscreen is mounted on the top of the dashboard and the AC controls now support capacitive touch along with the sliding gesture. In addition to that, we get the updated steering wheel with capacitive touch controls and the much loved all-digital virtual cockpit. In terms of space and usability, everything remains the same as before, reminding us that it’s just a mid-life cycle facelift.

2022 Volkswagen T-Roc Facelift - Engine Options

Coming to the engine options, nothing has been changed as the same powertrains take the charge. The base variants come with the humble 1.0L TSI with 110Hp. The one we get in India is the 150Hp 1.5L TSI with a 7-speed DSG and FWD layout. In addition to that, global markets also get the potent 2.0L TSI with 190Hp and 4 Motion AWD. If Volkswagen launches the T-Roc facelift in India, we expect the same FWD configuration with the 1.5L TSI.

2022 Volkswagen T-Roc Facelift - India Launch Soon?

Volkswagen India is betting big on SUVs. We recently saw the launch and runaway success of the Taigun. Furthermore, Volkswagen is now prepping up to launch the locally-assembled Tiguan facelift that will be priced attractively. As the Taigun is already competing with the compact SUVs of the segment, the space for the T-Roc is really not much and given its CBU taxes, it won’t be a lucrative deal alongside the affordable Taigun. However, given the popularity the T-Roc has garnered in a short span of time, Volkswagen may consider the T-Roc facelift in India and allocate some batches of the T-Roc to the country.
