Mahindra and Mahindra have gained tremendous popularity with the XUV700. Be it with the 5-star NCAP rating or the 24 hours endurance record, the XUV700 has sprinkled its glory everywhere. The popularity also turned into over 70,000 bookings of the SUV and the Indian SUV maker is now finding it difficult to cope up with the demand. As a result, the Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Smart launch has been planned to give some relief to prospective buyers.

Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Smart is going to be a new trim in the lineup that will sit below the top-spec AX7L. The AX7 Smart will essentially lose on some features like ADAS, ESP, Hill hold assist, driver drowsiness detection, drive modes, electric door handles, passive entry, e-parking brake, wireless charging and telescopic steering. As you are well aware, the pandemic had disrupted the supply of semiconductor chips and the market is still facing a shortage. Hence, the highlighting features of the XUV700 like ADAS, which require more chips, have been deleted from the AX7 Smart. This move will shorten up the waiting period of the XUV700.
While many highlighting features have been taken off, the XUV700 AX7 Smart still boasts some good features like twin 10.25-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play, 360-degree parking camera with blind view monitor, automatic headlights and wipers, leatherette seats, powered driver’s seat with memory function, sky roof and more. Out on the exteriors, there won’t be any visual differences between the AX7 Smart and AX7L, thanks to the presence of 18-inch alloy wheels.
Talking about the price difference, the AX7 Smart variant of the XUV700 will be 80,000 cheaper than the AX7L. And here comes the twist in the story, the AX7 Smart variant will only be offered to the buyers who have already booked the AX7L to reduce the waiting period. Bookings of the AX7 Smart will open later for the new buyers, once the waiting periods come under a certain limit. Currently, the waiting period of the XUV700 is hovering from 6-12 months depending on the variant you pick and the location you are based on.
